Here are some tips for beginning to attune to the vision for your web site:
Pictures:
Begin to find pictures that inspire you & contain the kinds of images you’d like to include on your site. This will begin to reveal to you the colors, shapes and subject matter for your web site. (Remember, though, before using any images on your web site, make sure you have the appropriate license for them. When we design a site, we always make sure the images are licensed).
Sites that Inspire:
Start surfing the web and bookmarking sites that you love. Take notes about what you love about the site. This will help you begin to develop your vision.
Sites You Don’t Like, too:
Identifying what you don’t want is a powerful exercise too. Are you an angel practitioner but simply don’t want heavenly clouds? Hate orange? Don’t like the idea of busy banners? These are good things to know before embarking upon your design project.
Intentions:
Take some time and attune to your intentions for your site. Are you going to be blogging? How would you like your visitors to feel when they’re at your site? What is your mission?
Tutorials:
We love WordPress as a platform for web sites. If you’re new to WordPress and don’t really know what we’re talking about, find some introductory video tutorials on the web. There’s tons of great material out there.
Site Map:
A site map is like an outline for your site. Each page is a line item. What pages will you have on your site? Begin to create your outline (home page, about us, services, blog, contact, etc.).
